AGRICULTURE
Our approach to agro business differs from our competition in that WVL is a producer in addition to a supplier, as opposed to those trading companies that focus mainly on sourcing products. WVL ensures that the largest percentage of our grains and cereals, oil seeds and fresh produce are cultivated at WVL’s farms. Our farms include one of the largest grower seed out-grower projects in Nigeria.
WVL’s crop production methods are according to global best practice and the most cutting edge crop cultivation technologies. The high quality of the inputs we utilize enables us to produce the highest quality produce for our customers. In addition, WVL uses advanced crop-genetics capable of producing higher yields and maximizing efficient input usage thereby ensuring quality and quantity of our products.
“If all arable land in Africa were to be properly
cultivated, then not only would the continent
be self-sufficient in food production, but
the whole world could be fed.” – AmritWalia.
As a group, WVL has provided a full range of agricultural inputs to the Nigerian and West African market for over two decades. These inputs vary from fertilizer to tractors. Through this, we have come to understand the Nigerian agricultural market, as well as its legal and trade regimes.
WVL actively pursues a strategy of integrating supply chains to reduce market fluctuations. To accomplish this, WVL owns a controlling stake in every aspect of its value chain, from importing to logistics to warehousing. Our consolidated holdings constitute one of the largest West African investments.
